Today's exercise is deceptively simple. I'd like you to start and end your poem with the same phrase or word. The only stipulation is that by the time the reader hears the phrase for the second time it mean something different from the first time you wrote it.
Some things that might help include using an image in the first line that could be a symbol for a larger idea or concept. For example, the setting sun could symbolize more than the end of the day.
You might also try repeating a color, sound, or taste whose meaning could change over time.
I'm going to ask that you use AM Radio's amazing sim, "The Space Between These Trees" as the setting for this poem. Be sure to explore thoroughly as there are many hidden treasures here.
